Rhododendon tomentosum (Ledum palustre) is a highly variable Ledum species.
This composite picture showcases samples collected from five distinct locations in Finland,
along with an additional sample from Mongolia.
All samples are displayed in the same scale for easy comparison.
Every R. tomentosum specimen underwent flow cytometry testing at Coimbra University in Portugal,
confirming their tetraploid nature.
This characteristic sets them apart from similar-looking species like R. subarcticum and R. subulatum,
both of which are diploids.
